Absolutely brilliant to see so many people at Goods Yard Fest today, a free festival in Stoke by the site of the city’s newest neighbourhood, and in the shadow of those huge cranes we’ve all been watching!
It was great to get a sneak peek into the Signal Box, which will be turned into a cafe bar, and was recently the site of a pop up cinema. The live music and DJs is typical of the sort of events social impact developer Capital & Centric put on at their sites - so more of the same is promised!
The Glebe Street site has been moving forward at incredible pace since we announced the partnership with Capital & Centric in January 2020, moving through planning and picking up £16m of government support through the Levelling Up Fund in October 2021. Cranes appeared on the skyline earlier this year, following demolition of the warehouses that had previously been on the site. The lift shafts of the new residential block have already started to appear, with completion due next year!
The event was announced a few weeks ago, with details being published in the local media, including on Nub News Stoke here.
