One of the projects supported by the incredibly successful Community Investment Fund is Trentham Mausoleum, which this Christmas opened up for a very special special carol concert. You can read a little bit about the event here.
The City’s only Grade 1 listed building, finding a use for such a structure - that has no electricity or heating - can be a challenge, however the resourcefulness of the Friends group, supported by local Residents Associations, in finding such uses to open the building and engage the public’s imagination is to be applauded.
I am also incredibly proud of the brilliant work done by the two Hanford and Trentham councillors, Daniel Jellyman and Rachel Kelsall, who are unstinting in their support for this work, both practically and strategically. This year has seen the Mausoleum open several times to the public, supported by a range of groups and always with a clamour for more. Great to see such enthusiasm for our city’s proud heritage!
