After a lengthy campaign, the yellow lines in Catchems Corner have finally been installed and will reduce the instances of 'near misses' that residents have been reporting to me over the last few years.
Unfortunately, inconsiderate parking on the blind bend by the Catchems Corner pub was exacerbated by parking at the junction of Edenhurst Avenue with Caverswall Lane, meaning vehicles heading towards Caverswall were sometimes forced into the middle of the road, and the visibility of vehicles emerging from Edenhurst Avenue were unable to clearly see. After a lengthy consultation at the end of 2023 and into 2024, a decision was made to install the yellow lines. As this is the boundary of the city with Staffordshire County Council, agreement from them was needed, which made what is already quite a lengthy process even longer.
But we have finally got there! I know there was some concern about the impact of the yellow lines on local residents and businesses, however hopefully now they are in place, it's clear to see they are limited to the areas where sensible drivers would know not to park anyway.
The City Council Enforcement Team patrol the city but can be requested to attend - either by calling 01782 233220 and leaving a message for officers that patrol officers can call into to pick up, or by email to [email protected] As with all intelligent-led services, the more details you can provide the better, especially for repeat offenders.
I will continue to monitor the success of these markings, but hope this does resolve some of the issues here.
